Microsoft Power BI
Since data is such a critical aspect of business, it is important to use a strong Business Intelligence tool. Microsoft Power BI is a market-leading reporting & analytics product that has been acknowledged as a pioneer for 12 consecutive years in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Systems, so why don’t more organisations use it to get more out of their company’s data? We will discuss a few of the many strengths that Power BI has and show you how you can get more from your business data in this blog post.
What is Power BI?
Power BI is a Microsoft cloud-based business intelligence tool that helps you to analyse your knowledge to obtain valuable insights, helpful in making data-backed choices to move your organisation forward. Power BI dashboards and analyses incorporate information in real-time from a large range of outlets to have a 360-degree view of the enterprise in one location. You may create personalised dashboards and reports or use pre-made models to view details, such as sales, promotions, customer support or any other business functions you choose to track, from several different aspects of your business.
What you can do with Power BI?
A basic drag and drop user interface is used to create immersive dashboards and reports using a drag-and – drop canvas loaded with entertaining visualisations that are modified in real time to create visualisations and reports. To show your results, Power BI comes with over 15 different visualisations, as well as an online library packed with additional community-created options.
Access and control from anywhere
You can view your Power BI dashboards and reports on any platform with native smartphone applications for iOS , Android, and Windows devices to ensure you’re never left out of the loop. Set up smartphone notifications and share your dashboards via text , email or on the app itself for critical KPIs.
Promotes collaboration
Power BI facilitates teamwork through the ability to collectively edit, collaborate and review dashboards. Power BI workspaces include an environment in which teams can collaborate together to exchange dashboard ownership and management, documentation, databases and workbooks. You should post the dashboards and files, allowing individuals to access and engage with the information, but not change it. You will also communicate and communicate with your colleagues or embed your dashboards and results on blogs, in SharePoint, applications, and more.
Natural language search
The in-built ‘Q&A’ functionality of Power BIs helps you to ask questions about your data using natural language, the same as when you look for something on Google. Power BI then interprets the question after posing a question and changes the visualisations on your dashboard to include an answer. Without the need to query a data scientist, this feature helps every user to get quick insights into their data.
Predictability
Power BI forecasting combines AI and machine learning to give you predictive modelling, allowing you an accurate idea of your potential success before it ever exists. In order to adjust the prediction on your visualisation, you should determine several inputs such as the forecast duration and confidence interval. Applying the forecasting tool to a visualisation would refresh it with a detailed representation of how the data might appear over the chosen time frame, allowing you to prepare your approach efficiently in the future.
Slicers, drill through, drill-down
Slicers are used to allow users to refine and display data for only certain selected elements in a study. For instance, you are looking at a general sales report from your shops, but you want to highlight each store’s results separately in order to compare your data. It is a much easier way to display multiple datasets than to construct a separate visualisation. Slicers can be coordinated with all the visualisations by a single click through several report sites.
Drill through is used in the report to create a website that focuses on a single business such as a provider, client or maker. When you right-click and visualise the main report tab, the pages are separate from your main report and take you to this separate page with the visualisations modified if you wish.
You may use the drill-down mode of Power BI to show more information about the data when a visualisation has a hierarchy. By default, drilling only filter data for one visualisation, but you can enable several visualisations to be filtered at once. If you look at a visualisation of your total sales of clothes, you can drill down and see the overall sales by item category, then you can drill deeper to see overall sales by item size or colour, giving you deeper insights into your information.
Business Central of Microsoft Dynamics 365
If you are already a Dynamics 365 Business Central customer, to provide you with easy insights about your business, you can see Power BI reports inserted directly into pages inside the programme. If you pick certain pieces of material, such as looking at total item sales and then clicking on one particular item, these embedded visualisations are interactive and dynamically modified. Power BI also helps you to connect Business Central as a database, allowing you an endless ability to produce insightful dashboards and analyses to provide you an in-depth view into the success of your business. We hope that this blog post has provided you more insight into some of Power BI’s many strengths, this is not a detailed rundown of all the features in the solution, but it gives you an understanding of how much more you can use it to get from your business data.
Hence, Power BI is Microsoft’s Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics platform that offers effective real-time data analysis to customers and companies, helpful in making data-backed decisions to move your business forward and thoroughly understand your results.
